The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon became very emotional when Miley Cyrus, 24, wrote a thank you letter to Hillary Clinton. She wore her heart on her sleeve on the episode of 4th October. Miley had been the musical guest on the show for an entire week and was accompanied by her political role model, Hillary Clinton. The moment was really epic when she finally got a chance to meet her.
She came at the end of the show with her “Thank you notes” sketch along with the former Secretary of State. Before Miley, there were a couple of young female staff writers who had written cards of praise thanking Hillary Clinton for inspiring millions of people around the world. The former Democratic presidential nominee was deeply moved by these words. Miley was the last one to come on stage and she almost burst into tears as she hugged her. Hillary also wrote a “Thank you” letter for all the girls and women of America who lent their love and support to her.
Miley’s letter was as follows. “Thank you Hillary Clinton for being a constant beacon of strength, hope and determination for millions of other young women. You’ve been a role model and an inspiration and a voice of reason in uncertain times. I could go on and on, but I’d like to get right to the point. Can I hug you?”
She almost burst into tears while writing the letter. Hillary was touched by these beautiful words and hugged her back with great affection and warmth.
Miley posted her pic with Hillary Clinton on Instagram even before the show aired. Miley shared with fans on Instagram that she got a hug from Hillary and told her followers how much it meant to her. “I got my Hillary hug!!!! @hillaryclinton. Today is the day I’ll never forget. You are endlessly inspiring, & you know there are millions of people who love you and appreciate you for what you are. Hillary also added that I would never stop speaking up against injustice and keep on fighting for equality.
Earlier in the show, she portrayed her godmother Dolly Parton in a throwback duet. “Kenny Rogers” character was played by Jimmy with white hair and beard. The two performed their classic 1983 duet Islands in the Stream. If Dolly was watching this at home, she would have been certainly proud of what Miley is doing. Though Miley’s performance was absolutely great, it was the memorable moment with Hillary Clinton that stole the night and became the major attraction.
