Writer’s Assistant Is NOT An Entry-Level Job!
I’ve received countless emails saying, I’d like to apply for a PA or writer’s assistant position.
Writer’s assistant is NOT an entry-level job. If you send a resume to a production office stating that you would like to apply for both, you’ll look like an idiot. I apologize for being blunt; I haven’t had enough coffee this morning to be diplomatic.
Most WA’s are promoted from within — PAs who train with the current writer’s assistants and are promoted the following season. A master’s in film and television does not make you qualified; WA’s require on-the-job training.
Expect to start at the bottom, not the middle.
